Divorce Mediation in Grosse Pointe

Settlement Through Divorce Mediation

Divorce mediation is a process that aims to settle your case by agreement of the parties rather than by a decision imposed by the judge assigned to your case. Typically, you and your attorney will sit in one conference room at the mediator’s office while your spouse and his or her attorney sits in another. The mediator bounces from room to room, attempting to obtain agreement on each issue in the case until all issues are resolved.

Then, the mediator either records or writes a mediation settlement agreement which the parties and their attorneys sign. Once the agreement is signed, it terms are incorporated into a consent judgment of divorce which finalizes the case. Many divorce cases in Wayne County, Michigan are resolved using mediators because the parties prefer to have input into the final outcome of their case, rather than have the judge- a stranger- decide things. In over 20 years’ experience representing individuals in divorce cases, Christopher Drouillard has earned an excellent reputation for successfully negotiating highly favorable mediation outcomes for clients.
